About Charlie

Charlie Harden is a cricket commentator, content creator and communicator driven by a deep passion for cricket and its future. After graduating from the University of Exeter, Charlie qualified and worked with the charity Teach First as a secondary school science teacher. During that time he developed a talent for explaining complex ideas clearly and engaging diverse audiences, a skill that now sits at the heart of his broadcasting and content work.

In November 2024, Charlie founded the “What’s He On About?” Cricket Podcast and began producing short-form cricket content across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. The project originally served as a way to demonstrate his ability to discuss the game at a professional level, but quickly evolved into a much broader cricket media platform. Over time, Charlie recorded more than 40 podcast episodes, and over 600 short-form videos which gained significant traction online and eventually became the primary focus of his digital output.

Today, Charlie has built a community of 150,000+ followers across all platforms, generating over 100 million views and reaching cricket fans across the world, particularly within the 16-34 demographic. His content focuses on insight-driven cricket analysis, helping new and younger audiences understand and appreciate the nuances of the game.

Alongside his digital work, Charlie has developed a growing portfolio in professional cricket commentary, covering men’s and women’s county cricket on BBC Radio Solent, BBC Sport and BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra, with commentary experience at venues including Lord’s Cricket Ground, Utilita Bowl and the Derbyshire County Ground.

Beyond the commentary box, Charlie has also gained experience as a host, interviewer and live presenter. He has worked as a Master of Ceremonies and Q&A host, most recently interviewing England and Hampshire cricketer Sonny Baker with a live audience. He has also collaborated as a digital creator with the Stick to Cricket podcast, producing analytical cricket content and working with the platform during major events such as the Cricket World Cup 2026.

Charlie’s contemporary skillset includes experience hosting over 100 hours of cricket livestream watch-alongs, providing real-time commentary, analysis and fan interaction. These broadcasts have helped him develop the ability to think quickly on air, maintain energy across long broadcasts and engage digital audiences in real time.

Charlie’s ambition is to become a leading voice in cricket broadcasting, deliver commentary on England cricket matches and cover major global tournaments, while continuing to use modern digital platforms to grow the game and connect cricket with the next generation of fans.
